What is ShopART?
ShopART Midwest is an artist-centric, non-commission gallery that connects Midwest artists to the buyers who appreciate living with the arts and handcrafted items. This is a service by Twin Rivers Council for the Arts supporting our local culture makers and making it easier for anyone to bring special, handmade arts into their lives.Â
Ashley Siehler
Whimsical illustrations like your favorite childhood books and characters a bit quirky. A twenty-something artist that does a lot of somethings!
I'm a new Minnesotan living in rural Kasota on my first hobby farm with my husband, dog, and first flock of eleven chickens. I grew up in a military family and moved all over the country, filling my mind and soul with varied inspirations, before settling down. Those seeds planted in my disorienting childhood found fertile soil here and grow into the colorful characters and scenarios I paint every day.
I took up artwork as a way to manifest the characters that lived in my imagination, abandoned it to persue a degree in English, then went back to it when writing didn't quite work out. I have no formal training in art, unless you consider a BA in Life with a concentration in Looking it up on Google.
Nevertheless, art became my full time pursuit in 2018 after years of gentle nudges and the kindest support from the people who love me.
I currently work with marker, ink, gouache, watercolor, and a wee bit of acrylic. I find inspiration daily on my land, in the critters that cross it, and the people I meet.
